This home was built with Quad-Lock Insulated Concrete Forms on the first floor with 12.25" thick walls rated at R-28 or better. The 6" concrete core and reinforcing rebar produce a home that is not only highly energy efficient, but also a home that is extremely durable and will last for a lifetime. This setup allowed us to install a high efficiency geothermal heating and cooling system to tackle the 4100 square feet across 2 stories. The single 5 ton system, split into 3 zones handles the load with ease and is 3 times as efficient as most conventional systems.
The clients really wanted this house to function not only for them, but also for their dogs. In order to help them achieve their goal, we added a dog wash in the laundry room and an under stair kennel area in the front entryway. The challenge in the entry way was to achieve the function the clients required without making it look like a dog kennel. We achieved the look by building and designing a white oak slat wall with a hidden door.
We completed this project in a rural setting where we had to account for a variety of unique challenges in both the planning and execution phases, including incorporating a septic system, water well, propane tank, and challenging terrain. All this was completed in 14 months from foundation to certificate of occupancy.
